About us

Our studio is on the 2nd floor above Hockley Gym, we have 4 reformers in a bright welcoming studio. The studio offers small group courses and private sessions. Click here to find out more about our instructors.

 

Reformer Pilates is a whole body workout designed to improve strength, flexibility, balance, posture and coordination its perfect for rehabilitation and injury prevention.

The reformer was invented by Pilates founder Joseph Pilates. It is a bed-like frame with a flat platform on it, called the carriage, which rolls on wheels within the frame. The carriage is attached to one end of the reformer by a set of springs, which can be adjusted to increase and decrease resistance.

Exercises can be done lying down, sitting, standing, pulling the straps, pushing the footbar, perched on the ​footbar, perched on the shoulder blocks, with additional equipment, upside down, sideways, and all kinds of variations.

Symmetry offers small group courses and private reformer sessions.

Our courses run inline with school term times - you commit to the same day and time each week, this ensures progression with a group of similar ability as well as enabling the instructor to plan for those in the group.

In the school holidays we run a holiday time table depending on the needs of our clients

We only have 4 beds per class which ensures safety, progression and professional guidance in all sessions.

We only offer drop in sessions (bolt ons) only for current clients and members.

All those new to symmetry courses are invited to a welcome session so we can get to know your needs and goals.

I really look forward to my Thursday pilates session. Sarah is so knowledgeable, supportive, and ensures proper form throughout the lesson. The workout is challenging but adaptable to my skill level and I feel stronger each time. Looking forward to my next 7 week course.

Absolutely love it! I have found the exercise that suits my ability I don’t feel I’m working hard, but actually I am, the stretching is really improving my posture, and it’s fun.
